CHINESE NEW YEAR CARNIVAL 2012

TAWAU: A Chinese New Year Carnival will be held at the compound of Tawau Municipal Council (TMC) on January 17-20.
The four-day event will feature exhibition, sales, cultural and musical performances.
Organising deputy chairman Tai Yun Wu said the event is expected to be officially launched by Assistant Infrastructure Development Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming and closed by Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan.
“We hope all the community here will come to enliven this carnival in line with the 1Malaysia concept,” he said.
He said several main roads near the venue will be closed on the night of January 20.
Meanwhile, the carnival organising chairman Len Fui Fung said the first ever event here is organised in collaboration with the TMC and Sri Tanjung’s People Development Leader Unit (UPKR).
He hoped it will help to foster the 1Malaysia spirit in the multiracial society.
